How to Make a Simple Quadcopter Drone?

Making drones is very popular among makers lately. However, everyone who is not a maker, young or old, wonders if it is difficult to make a drone. There is plenty of content on youtube and on the internet for drone construction for the enthusiasts. So I decided to publish an article on drone construction on my own site.

Recently, a few of my students asked me, “Sir, how to make a drone?” they asked. I started my research on this question. After reading many articles and watching videos, we decided to make our own drone. First of all, we set our drone as a quadcopter. Then we searched for the necessary materials. We determined the main materials needed to make a drone as follows:

1- 4 brushless motors (1400 kV and above)

2- 4 x 30 A electronic motor controllers (ESC)

3- 6 channel wireless receiver (RX)

4- Flight control card

5- Power distributor board

6- Robust body

7- At least 3-cell and 35c 2000 mah lipo battery

8- 2 clockwise and 2 counterclockwise propellers

9- Enough cables

10- Ziptie

After obtaining these materials, we first start by assembling the body. We position the engines on the body. We connect the motors to the ESC and the ESC to the power distributor. We connect the signal cable of the ESC to the flight control board. We connect the LIPO battery to the power distributor. We also connect the flight controller to the wireless receiver. Do not attach the propellers to the engine without adjusting the engine settings. Then, after making the necessary connections, we power the system. After making the necessary quadcopter settings from the flight control board, we attach the propellers to motors. Please pay attention to propellers clockwise and counterclockwise. And finally our quadcopter drone is complete. Now you can carefully fly it in the open air. If you have no previous experience in flying drones, you can practice with drone flying simulations.
